It focuses on non-fiction cinema but includes a brief description of the only Portuguese fiction film about the war, João Ratão [Jorge Brum do Canto, 1940]. Special attention is given to the Portuguese Army’s official film service and its inability to make any films about the Portuguese troops fighting on the European front. The article ends by considering the role of war movies in Portuguese film culture and their role in the process of institutionalization of cinema in this country during the 1910s. en en d Tiago Baptista Film/Cinema (Portugal) l 2calibre (2.5.0) [http://calibre-ebook.com] i 9International Encyclopedia of the First World War i 1914-1918-Online i First World War i WW1 i Film/Cinema (Portugal) q ,5ce53497-8bb3-4e83-8e9c-b9e2735b57cb p 4calibre:5ce53497-8bb3-4e83-8e9c-b9e2735b57cb EBOK j !2014-11-01T00:00:00+00:00 t Film/Cinema (Portugal)
